Questions people ask before getting started
Why is your price higher than the “$60 tax return” sign?
Those signs are usually a base price that excludes schedules, slips, rentals, investments and e-file — the invoice ends up elsewhere. Our published price includes the listed scope, and the quote is fixed before we start. If a cheaper preparer is right for a simple return, we will tell you.
How is a T1 priced?
By the number of documents your return needs — document-count tiers: up to 5 documents starts at $149, 6–15 starts at $249, 16+ starts at $349 and is quoted after review. Self-employed or business income (T2125) always starts with a consultation before a quote. Add-ons are quoted up front: extra rental property +$125, capital-gains schedule beyond 20 transactions +$75, prior-year adjustment $125.
Do I need to come in?
No. Most clients start by phone or video, then send documents through a secure link. We serve Edmonton and area, and remote clients across Alberta and Ontario.
I run a corporation. What does the year-end cover?
The T2 corporate return plus notice-to-reader financial statements. If we also do your bookkeeping, the package price is from $4,800/year including four GST/HST filings and a year-end planning review. Inactive corporations start at $700.
What does the free Fresh Eyes Review actually include?
One previously filed return, reviewed for missed credits, errors and CRA-letter risk, with a one-page findings note in 5 business days. It does not include re-filing; if a correction is worth doing, we quote it first.
How fast will I hear back?
We reply within one business day, Mon–Fri.
What documents do I need to send?
For a T1: your slips (T4/T4A/T5), RRSP and donation receipts, medical receipts if claiming, and last year’s Notice of Assessment. For a corporation: bank statements, sales/expense records and the prior year-end package. We send a short checklist after the quote.
Can you help if CRA has already sent a letter?
Yes — bring the letter. We explain what it is asking, the deadline to respond and what to send. That conversation is part of the engagement, not a separate surprise fee.
